Courage Of The Hero EP

Such Luxury Records exists to release music that is about feeling first and functionality second. This release from Des Meegan wholly embodies this ethos.

The opening track—“Heat”— features punchy and uplifting synth chords over a Latin-inspired rhythm. The thick synth bassline dances between the drums to create the groove and London musician Matt Sluys contributes film noir-esque saxophone lines to complete this tense tale of sexy, urban twilight.

The A2 further pushes things onto the dance floor, albeit at a lower bpm. The entire track floats on a looping filtered guitar riff. Big drums sit atop a warm Reese-style bassline which nods to Des Meegan’s history as a respected drum and bass producer under a different alias.

On the flip is the titular track of the EP. Thematic and hypnotic, Courage of the Hero unfolds over 8 minutes to tell the tale of our Hero on their journey as they battle the ultimate enemy and return victorious. The pinnacle of the track is an emotionally charged, live guitar solo.

The release is completed with the track “Atmosphere Burning”. This beat-less piece breathes in and out in synch with the universe. The track was inspired by the beauty of our home planet floating in space, existing beyond humans.
