Lyon producer Heimyl might be better known as Lazer Man, though thankfully this record contains neither lasers nor men in capes (as far as we’re aware). The Lyon producer has earned his place within France’s underground house circuit without making much noise about it, and that same understated approach is reflected across these four tracks. ‘I Want Speak’ opens with half-heard phrases darting through the mix and a rhythm happy to play the long game, then ‘Power Cat’ threads chiming melodies through a rolling bassline with feline confidence. Turn to the flip and ‘Sector 14’ slowly piles on the pressure, and ‘New Place’ closes things out with a warmer, more easy-going house sound that offers a gentle comedown after all that low-end skulduggery.
