The Berlin-based Pina Edits series started up back in 2019, with the versions largely uncredited but clearly the work of people who appreciate pineapples (judging by the artwork). They’re coming through with their third release of 2022, leading in with a beautiful, hazy version of 20th Century Steel Band’s ‘Heaven and Hell is on Earth’ entitled ‘C64s’. It’s slow and housey, with the swirling atmospherics you associate with the likes of Ron Trent. It’s tougher to place ‘Billy Dance’, but there are some classic disco stabs in there to cut through the mellow chords and rolling drum patter. If you need some good-time warmth to get you through the winter months, look no further.
